Register to Vote

REGISTER TO VOTE

Town Residents may come to the Town Office during regular business hours to, register to vote, make changes to their current enrollment status, name or address. 

Please bring a photo ID and proof of residency.            
         
Acceptable forms of proof of Residency: 

          Maine Drivers License or State ID
          Utility Bills
          Bank Statement
          Government Check or receipt of public benefit
          Paycheck     
          Current income tax return
          Current vehicle registration
          Other official documentation

 ABSENTEE VOTING:

Ways to vote Absentee:

               A. Come to the town office and vote in the presence of the clerk. 
               B. Come in and fill out an application to take a ballot with you. 
               C. Calling us to request a ballot by mail. You can only request one by phone for yourself
               D. Use the Maine Online Absentee Ballot Request Service to request a ballot by mail.  
 
         THE DEADLINE TO REQUEST AN ABSENTEE BALLOT IS 7 DAYS BEFORE THE ELECTION.
             
          After that you must fill out and claim a special circumstance request. Special Circumstances are as follows:
               * Unexpected absence from the municipality during the ENTIRE time the polls are open on Election Day; OR
               * Physical or mental disability;
               * Inability to travel to the polls if the voter is a resident of an island ward or precinct.;
               * Incapacity or illness that has resulted in the voter being unable to leave home or treatment facility; OR
               * Being a caregiver who is unable to attend the polls due to the incapacity or illness of another person. 

        ABSENTEE BALLOTS MUST BE RETURNED/RECEIVED NO LATER THAN THE CLOSE OF POLLS ON ELECTION DAY.
