The Town of Frenchville makes vehicle and trailer registration simple and convenient, whether you prefer the ease of online services or the personal touch of in-person assistance. Take advantage of our participation in the Rapid Renewal Program for online re-registrations or visit us at the Town Office with the necessary documents in hand.

For quick and hassle-free re-registration of your vehicle or trailer, click the link provided below to use the online Rapid Renewal Service. Please note that this service includes a processing fee of 2.5% of your total transaction.

Lost your title and need to apply for a new one?

If you are trying to sell your vehicle that is up to 25 years old you must have a title to transfer to the new owner. If you’ve lost it, the quickest way to replace it is by doing it online. You will need the information from your registration.

In-Person Registration at the Town Office 

To register your vehicle or trailer at the Town Office, here’s what you’ll need to bring:

For re-registration:

  • Your previous year’s registration
  • A valid insurance card effective on the registration day
  • The exact mileage without rounding or guessing

For new registration:

All parties listed on the registration must be present!

  • Dealer Sale:
    • Bill of sale with sales tax indicated
    • Title application
    • Window sticker for new vehicles
    • Valid insurance card
    • Exact mileage
    • Old registration for plate transfers (only if you no longer own the previous vehicle)
  • Private Sale:
    • A detailed bill of sale (make, model, year, vin number, mileage, sold from/to, price paid, and signatures from seller and buyer)
    • Original title for vehicles. Vehicles 25 years and newer require a title to transfer. All parties listed on title must sign off on the back for transfer.
    • Valid insurance card
    • Exact mileage
    • Old registration for plate transfers (only if you no longer own the previous vehicle)

For trailers over 3000 lbs:

For campers:

  • Detailed camper information including length, make, model, VIN, and features

For out-of-state vehicles:

  • Prior registration, title, or lien holder information
  • Current insurance card
  • Exact mileage

For Canadian vehicles:

  • Manufactures Certificate of Origin (MCO) (for new vehicles) or previous registration (for used vehicles)
  • Required customs (Form 7501 or CF-3299 or CF-368) and declaration forms (DOT HS-7)
  • Completed MVT-10 (VIN Inspection Form)
    • Trailers and Special Equipment do not require an HS-7 or Customs Entry Summary, but Campers do require an MVT-10 form.
