Committed to Clean Water and Environmental Health
Here in Frenchville, the health of our waterways is a reflection of our community’s commitment to environmental responsibility. The Frenchville Wastewater Treatment Facility stands as a testament to this dedication, serving our residents and businesses with state-of-the-art waste treatment technology.
Advanced Treatment for a Healthy Environment
Our facility boasts aerated lagoons with a robust 1.6 million gallon capacity, where aerobic bacteria play a crucial role in treating waste effectively before its safe discharge into the St. John River. The collection system, including three pump stations within Frenchville, ensures reliable and efficient transportation of wastewater to our lagoons.
Regulated for Safety and Sustainability
With oversight by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Maine Department of Environmental Protection, our facility adheres to strict limits on Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD), Total Suspended Solids (TSS), residual Chlorine, and Fecal Coliform bacteria. Furthermore, we conduct semi-annual Mercury sampling, analyzed by accredited laboratories, to ensure our discharge meets all environmental safety standards.
Expert Staff and Meticulous Maintenance
Our Certified Wastewater Treatment Operator, supported by public works staff, is at the heart of our operation. Armed with a Grade 5 Biological Treatment license—the highest classification—their expertise ensures the facility’s optimal operation, from routine monitoring and laboratory analysis to monthly and special report submissions to governmental bodies.
We believe in proactive maintenance and local engagement, regularly partnering with contractors for system upkeep. Our facility’s grounds are also thoughtfully cared for, providing a pleasing aesthetic that aligns with Frenchville’s picturesque surroundings.
A Future-Focused Regionalization Project
The 2012-2013 Wastewater Regionalization Project marked a significant milestone as we began treating wastewater from the Town of St. Agatha. This collaboration not only addresses capacity and treatment challenges but also underscores our shared values of protecting our natural resources, such as Long Lake, cherished by both communities.
With the system modifications in place, our facility is equipped to handle the increased user flow while ensuring additional capacity for future growth in Frenchville. It’s a stride forward in our mission to provide excellent service today and prepare for tomorrow’s needs.
In Frenchville, we take pride in our Wastewater Treatment Facility’s role in safeguarding our environment, showcasing how a community’s love for its natural resources can translate into action and care.
