Accessing Assistance When You Need It Most

The Town of Frenchville is dedicated to supporting residents facing financial hardships through our General Assistance program. This initiative is designed to provide timely aid to those in immediate need.

Applying for General Assistance

To apply for assistance, you must complete an application and provide necessary documentation.

Applications are processed at the Town Office:

  • Regular Hours: Every Wednesday from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM

Emergency Assistance

For emergencies outside of regular hours, we ensure that someone is available 24/7 to take your application:

Decision and Follow-up

A written decision will be provided within 24 hours of receiving your application. If you encounter any issues or disagreements, or if you have questions, you can contact the Maine Department of Health and Human Services:

  • Toll-Free Number: 1-800-442-6003 (Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM)

Ordinance and Documentation Requirements

Frenchville’s General Assistance ordinance and the State’s law are available for review at the Town Office. Be prepared to provide recent expense receipts and bank statements from the last 30 days.
