Keeping Our Pets and Community Safe

In Frenchville, the safety and well-being of our four-legged friends and local wildlife are a reflection of the care and compassion our community holds dear. To maintain this, Frenchville has entered into an Interlocal agreement with the Town of Fort Kent, ensuring top-notch animal control services that cover everything from pet safety to wildlife concerns.

Dog Registrations

Keeping your furry friends safe starts with registering them at the town office, as required by law. Once registered, attach the tag to their collar so they can be quickly returned if they get lost. Registration is also important for keeping track of rabies vaccinations. If your dog bites someone, the police can easily confirm their vaccination status through the town office or animal control. Dog registrations open on October 15 and must be completed by December 31 for the following year. There’s a 30-day grace period, after which a $25 late fee per dog will be charged.

Collaboration for Community Safety

Through this partnership, residents of Frenchville have access to experienced animal control services. Whether it’s a lost pet, a stray, or an encounter with wildlife, our coordinated efforts with Fort Kent provide prompt and humane responses to a variety of animal-related situations.
